How we work with your church and family

We work with your whānau, your church and your marae from the first phone call. Your Funeral Arranger plans the service with you and liaises with your minister, the florist, the cemetery or crematorium, the newspaper and the caterers, and our team runs everything on the day.

Timing and viewings

A one-hour viewing in our Blacktown chapel is included on weekdays, and after-hours weekday viewings in the chapel are included too. A weekend viewing in the chapel is $550, and a viewing of up to three hours at your church or another venue is $1,995.

Many whānau want their loved one taken home to New Zealand. We look after the preparation, the paperwork and the transfer to the airport.

Māori funeral costs

Our Simple Bare Essentials Funeral starts from $6,195 inc. GST. A Māori funeral usually adds a longer or weekend viewing, a church service, burial and catering, so the total depends on your family’s choices. Cemetery fees are set by the cemetery and catering is priced on application. Our Funeral Quote Calculator shows the price of the funeral you want, line by line, before you decide.

For the journey home to New Zealand, our price list includes full embalming ($770), BioSeal and sealing ($600), a priority secondary death certificate ($150) and the transfer to Sydney Airport ($550), with air freight quoted by the airline. Tipene Funerals’ inbound package in New Zealand (customs clearance, airport uplift and a welfare check) is $2,500.
